B’nai Mitzvah
B’nai Mitzvahs
.
Mazel tov on your upcoming Bar or Bat Mitzvah!
What you can expect from having your simcha with Ohav Sholom?
- The synagogue will do its best to give the Bar/Bat Mitzvah families as many aliyot as requested, with consideration of the aliyot needed for other members (i.e. yahrzeits, etc.)
- If the Bar/Bat Mitzvah family opts to provide a kiddush or luncheon to invited guest only, they are required to provide, at a minimum, the sisterhood's Basic Kiddush package for non-invited worshipers. Visit our Kiddush page to learn all about our packages.
- If the family provides a kiddush for invited guests only, there is a fee of $800 to use our social hall.
B'nai Mitzvah fees:
- Use of shul resources and shul provided bar/bat mitzvah lessons:
- Standing members: $1,000
- Non-members: $1,800
- Sustaining/Associate members: $1,400
- Bar/bat mitzvah lessons that involve shul resources (Rabbi, Sanctuary, etc.) but not the shul provided lessons:
- Standing members: $200
- Non-members: $1,000
- Sustaining/Associate members: $600
*Please contact office@ohav.org for information about private lessons*
Please note:
- The financial secretary will be notified of all upcoming Bar/Bat Mitzvahs to ensure that the families are or will be in good financial standing with the shul prior to the event.
- Please do not bring your own candy. The Synagogue will purchase in bulk Sunkist gel candies, which are included in the cost of the simcha. This is to avoid kashrut and/or Shabbat observance issues. The candies will not be individually bagged by the shul or its staff. Families are responsible for bagging the provided candies permitted by the shul.
- Advance notice must be given to the Sisterhood if the family wishes to pick up any food leftovers after Shabbat. Please know that it is up to the discretion of the custodial staff as to what can be salvaged or packaged. The food pick up must be coordinated with the House & Property Manager. No one is permitted in either kitchen without the House & Property Manager. All food must be picked up within three days or it will be discarded.
- A guest list of non-members must be submitted to security by the Monday before your simcha. Please email the list to css@ohav.org and CC sisterhood@ohav.org, president@ohav.org
