Legacy Giving
Legacy Giving: What will your legacy be?
A planned gift is a charitable gift that you decide to make as part of your philanthropic or estate plans. In
addition to benefiting Congregation Ohav Sholom of Merrick and our community, a planned gift can benefit you and loved ones. A planned gift serves as a lasting reminder to your children and succeeding generations of the values that are most important to you. What will your legacy be?
Please feel free to use our sample language for your will.
Leave a Legacy for Future Generations
Including Congregation Ohav Sholom in your estate planning can be as simple as adding language to your will—we’ve given some examples below.
General Gift
“I give and bequeath the sum of $ ____________ (or ________ % of my residuary estate) to Merrick Bellmore Synagogue Inc./Congregation Ohav Sholom of Merrick, New York, to be used in support of its general charitable purposes.”
Gift Perpetuating an Annual Campaign Gift
“I give and bequeath the sum of $ ____________ (or ________ % of my residuary estate) to Merrick Bellmore Synagogue Inc./Congregation Ohav Sholom of Merrick, New York, to be used by it to create the ____________________ Family Fund, a perpetual endowment fund, the spending rate of which is to be paid over year-by-year to its annual campaign.”
Please be sure to consult with your legal and tax advisors before adding this language to your will to determine the best way for you to give to Congregation Ohav Sholom as part of your estate planning.
