Dear Students, Parents and Fellow Congregants,
Our Religious School and Synagogue will join tens of thousands of our fellow Jews as we march up Fifth Avenue as one in support of the State of Israel at the Annual Salute to Israel Day Parade. Clear your calendar and save the date - Sunday, May 23, 2010. This should be a major priority.
This year the overall parade theme is "Lights, Camera, Action, Israel." Our marching theme is entitled "Notes In The Kotel" (from the famous movie and book, Notes in a Bottle). We are creating our own banners, designed a T-Shirt logo, and are learning about the history of the Western Wall and the significance of writing a note and then placing it in the crevices in Jerusalem. Every parent and child will have an opportunity to write their own personal note that will be place in the wall this summer.
The attached flyers detail all of the information needed as far as time of march and the ordering of T-Shirts is concerned. Please respond as soon as possible since we have so much to co-ordinate. Every child and adult that is part of our contingent must wear a colored T-shirt that must be pre-ordered.
Every student in grades Bet through High School will march as part of the school contingent. All students in Aleph and younger must be accompanied by a parent. We are encouraging as many adults as possible to join with us. This is a true learning experience for our students in the Religious School and for the adults as well. This is an opportunity to experience and a moment that we will always remember.
Please adhere to the deadline of May 9th to order T-Shirts and make the necessary reservations. We need you to respond as quickly as possible.
